Reel Snippet – Flight
Flight is easily one of Robert Zemeckis’ darkest and heaviest films, delving into the horrors of alcoholism and how it destroys everything around you. This conflict alone gives the film the intensity of a pulse-pounding action movie, just without the violence or camera gimmicks. Denzel Washington is in top form here and it makes me realize how little I talk about his brilliance in my reviews. The soundtrack is… good in itself, filled with classics from the Stones and others 70s legends, but I can’t help wondering if the scenes where the songs were playing would have been stronger if they were silent or had the background music running under it. All in all, it’s a great new classic that would surely have been on my Best Movies list of the year had I been reviewing back then. If you haven’t seen it already, go check it out.
