Weekly Update of 9-16-15

When it rains it pours. This update is going to cover a lot of projects, so let’s get started.

Beginning with an upcoming release, the Doctor Who Podcast has been trimmed and is almost complete. We’re going to chop this one up into three videos because an hour and forty-seven minutes is way too long to ask for people’s attention. Apart from that, we just need to do some audio cleaning, add the background music, and get the background picture all set and we’ll be home free! I may have to break my schedule for this one, since I want this one to come out before the premiere or the day of. So stay tuned for the tales of time traveling and the cosmos, coming very, very soon.

Second, this month’s Ronin Reads. Oh man, I can’t wait to share this book with you guys. September 29 is coming up soon and I’m pushing through the book. Every page is a turner and it’s been all I can do to bite my tongue about it all. I’m almost halfway through the book (it’s a 600-page giant), so that’s going to be my main focus for most of the month.

Which brings me to my final update concerning the Star Wars articles. I’m excited to share those and the first one will be coming this October. Apologies for the delay, but since I’m focusing on the book as of late, I can’t really dig my talons into those quite yet. Still, in October, get ready for a trip into the Legends of a galaxy far, far away. All of its ups, downs, and sidewayses will come to light as I take you on a trip through one of the most influential stories of a generation.

Keep your eye on the skies.

Reel Snippets of 9-14-15

One of these films was a master of suspense, the other was a bit of a confusing letdown. Which was which? Well… you’ll have to click and find out.

Remembrance

Some people look at today as a source of their patriotism. Others look at it as the day they lost someone special to them. I personally look at it as a loss of innocence, when the world felt less safe and children would see the world much differently than we had growing up. So rather than some rousing words or condolences, I offer you a picture of 9/11 seen through a child’s eyes, so that we can remember that children will have to grow up with this burden.

Classic Snippets of 9-10-15

Man, do I love me some Dustin Hoffman. Sure, he was in Little Fockers, but I don’t hold that against him. Actors gotta eat, after all. Regardless, he has enough goodwill left over from great movies like this one to keep him in good graces for a long time. Great movies like this one.

Also, what do you think of the new label? “Reel Snippet Classic” was a bit of a mouth full, so I decided to give Classic Snippets a try.

Weekly Update of 9-9-15

It’s been a while since I’ve done a musing and the last one was a pretty heavy one. So let’s do something that we all enjoy: Star Wars! I’m going to do a multipart piece on the old Expanded Universe (which we call Legends since the Disney purchase), its history, its impact, and so forth. So, in preparation for those articles, have a quiz I made myself to see which Expanded Universe character you are.

Labor Day

Lay off that refresh button, folks. We’re honoring Labor Day and taking some time to refresh and recharge. Reel Snippets will keep going next Monday, but Todaborday is a Labor Day. Go out and enjoy your lives.

Scribbles of 9-4-15

Today’s theme seems to be television. Two of the Scribbles directly reference it and the other was inspired by a couple of characters I once saw. With that said, I leave you with this week’s batch of micro fiction.

She thinks these look like giant nipples and tells him so. He frowns and asks her why she has to be so crude. Write the dialogue between these two characters.

Reel Snippet Classics of 9-3-15

Welcome to part two of the Road to Genisys, where I look at all of the Terminator movies before eventually reviewing Terminator: Genisys. Today we look at the second and last of James Cameron’s contributions to the franchise in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Pull up a seat and read on.

Weekly Update of 9-2-15

Big news! This Sunday, the Fish and Cherries crew and I will be recording our Doctor Who podcast this Sunday. I don’t know if we’ll have it up by the same day, but hopefully we’ll post it by next week, around when Doctor Who is set to make its season premiere. It’s a good time to be a whovian. Stay tuned!
