Requiem For A Princess

It’s true… Carrie Fisher is now one with the Force.

I don’t have much energy to find the right words to send her off. It’s really painful that we’ve lost not only the third in a line of sci-fi icon deaths this year (the first two being Jerry Doyle and Ron Glass), but such an amazing woman in general. I hoped one day to meet her, but it looks like I’ll have to wait a lot longer. If you’re looking for a way to honor her, here’s something from a post going around Facebook:
– normalize mental illness and treatment
– take life a little less seriously
– destroy a fascist regime

See you, space cowgirl.

P.S.: We’ve lost the author to Watership Down and Ricky Harris from Everybody Hates Chris. I’m going to have some words with this year when I write my year-end list…

Reel Snippets of 12-26-16

Happy Boxing Day!!!!!

Well, okay, it’s not much of a holiday in the States, but here’s hoping that some international readers will feel appreciated. Anyway, here are two more Snippets. Apologies for the size of one of the images. The website is being weird and not letting me resize it.

Reel Snippets of 12-25-16

It’s Christmas!!!!!

Hard to believe after such a dreadful year that Christmas could still bring me such joy. Whatever the reason, it’s the point of this month and I’m gonna roll with it. With all that said, here’s my Christmas present to you: my review of Rogue One.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and here’s hoping for a Happy New Year.

Reel Snippets of 12-12-16

Hey, it’s 12-12… not 12. Oh well, two out of three isn’t bad. Anyway, let’s look at something we usually only get in December with a Doctor Who special: aliens! This is my review of Arrival.

Reel Snippets of 12-5-16

I sincerely apologize for my month-long absence. Last month was… fairly turbulent. Allow me to make up for it with double the Snippets.

Reel Snippets of 11-8-16

Here we are, the end to one of the worst elections in modern history. Your social media feeds are probably flooded with politics (some of it mine) and are probably sick of it all. So let’s take a seat and enjoy the fruits of Marvel’s most recent and experimental film to date.

Reel Snippets of 10-31-16

Happy Halloween, everyone! Let’s close off this month with an actual horror movie. And after we’re done, let’s find all of these damn boards and BURN THEM! Seriously, they always make the scary stuff scarier. You saw Paranormal Activity, right?

Better late than never. A few weeks after its release, here’s the four movie in the My Little Pony spinoff series, Equestria Girls.

Reel Snippets of 10-24-16

Not gonna lie, October has really been disappointing me in terms of horror movies. A lot of the good stuff came out before the month began and now what’s in the cinemas? Sure, the Ouija sequel is getting good reviews, but we also have the new Madea movie and Kirk Cameron’s Revive Us, which is a different kind of horror. So for now, let’s look at something everyone finds horrifying: a remake of a beloved cult classic.

What’s On My Mind on 10-21-16

Wow, it’s been a while since I did one of these, huh? Well, I wouldn’t bring this out of retirement if it wasn’t for something big. You may have noticed that my updates as of late have been sporadic, if not outright missing their deadlines and there’s a good reason for that. Long story short, I’ve gotten some writing gigs!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been writing comic reviews for Fanbase Press who give me deadlines for the things I select. Even though it doesn’t pay, it’s serious business because they’re given advance copies of the products they’re reviewing. On top of that, I’ve also been writing a series of articles for the Art of Autism showcasing famous people, past and present, who identify or are thought to be on the autism spectrum. So yeah, there’s been a lot of work that people are depending on and it’s a big step to getting me publically recognized and picked up professionally. On top of that, I’ve been reposting some of my Snippets on Cultjer and Culture Sonar, so exposure ahoy! Feel free to check those sites out to give them some love.

I have no plans on stopping my Reel Snippets anytime soon, especially not before the Best and Worst of the Year lists because I have a bone to pick with 2016. But these works are going to take priority and as such, there will probably be more schedule slips. So let’s meet halfway and I’ll start posting links to my reviews on this website, starting with everything I’ve done so far. Enjoy.
