Weekly Update of 9-16-15

When it rains it pours. This update is going to cover a lot of projects, so let’s get started.

Beginning with an upcoming release, the Doctor Who Podcast has been trimmed and is almost complete. We’re going to chop this one up into three videos because an hour and forty-seven minutes is way too long to ask for people’s attention. Apart from that, we just need to do some audio cleaning, add the background music, and get the background picture all set and we’ll be home free! I may have to break my schedule for this one, since I want this one to come out before the premiere or the day of. So stay tuned for the tales of time traveling and the cosmos, coming very, very soon.

Second, this month’s Ronin Reads. Oh man, I can’t wait to share this book with you guys. September 29 is coming up soon and I’m pushing through the book. Every page is a turner and it’s been all I can do to bite my tongue about it all. I’m almost halfway through the book (it’s a 600-page giant), so that’s going to be my main focus for most of the month.

Which brings me to my final update concerning the Star Wars articles. I’m excited to share those and the first one will be coming this October. Apologies for the delay, but since I’m focusing on the book as of late, I can’t really dig my talons into those quite yet. Still, in October, get ready for a trip into the Legends of a galaxy far, far away. All of its ups, downs, and sidewayses will come to light as I take you on a trip through one of the most influential stories of a generation.

Keep your eye on the skies.

Remembrance

Some people look at today as a source of their patriotism. Others look at it as the day they lost someone special to them. I personally look at it as a loss of innocence, when the world felt less safe and children would see the world much differently than we had growing up. So rather than some rousing words or condolences, I offer you a picture of 9/11 seen through a child’s eyes, so that we can remember that children will have to grow up with this burden.

Weekly Update of 9-9-15

It’s been a while since I’ve done a musing and the last one was a pretty heavy one. So let’s do something that we all enjoy: Star Wars! I’m going to do a multipart piece on the old Expanded Universe (which we call Legends since the Disney purchase), its history, its impact, and so forth. So, in preparation for those articles, have a quiz I made myself to see which Expanded Universe character you are.

Labor Day

Lay off that refresh button, folks. We’re honoring Labor Day and taking some time to refresh and recharge. Reel Snippets will keep going next Monday, but Todaborday is a Labor Day. Go out and enjoy your lives.

Weekly Update of 9-2-15

Big news! This Sunday, the Fish and Cherries crew and I will be recording our Doctor Who podcast this Sunday. I don’t know if we’ll have it up by the same day, but hopefully we’ll post it by next week, around when Doctor Who is set to make its season premiere. It’s a good time to be a whovian. Stay tuned!

Have you read this book?

Read this book.

It is, hands down, the best piece of literature I’ve ever been exposed to.

Are you reading it yet?

This Week Off

No Reel Snippet today (and possibly not Thursday either). I’m in New York with family until Thursday night and apart from having long times where I’m not near my computer, I also don’t have time to see movies in theaters. Next Monday, we’ll be back on track and I hope to bring you a gem from that weekend and this one.

Midweek Update of 8-12-15

As you may have noticed, my Reel Snippets aren’t restricted to things just released in theaters. Whenever I see a movie for the first time, old or new, I write a Snippet of it. However, for the purpose of clarity and providing more content, I am going to start separating the two into different posts. Stuff in theaters will continue to get the Monday treatment, but the older movies, the Reel Snippet Classics, if you will, will come out every Thursday. As such, Road to Genisys will now be coming out on the first Thursday of every month as opposed to Mondays. Time will tell if this new change goes over well, but I’ve got a good feeling about it.

Weekly Update 8-5-15

So Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 came out recently and continued the tradition of voiding our bowels and forcing us out of our skins. The question in the air is: will I post an update on my Five Nights at Freddy’s theory. Short answer: yes. Long answer: yes, but I’m going to take some time to really compile a good theory update. This installment throws an interesting twist into the lore that I need to give a good onceover to see how it all fits and contributes. Add to the fact that Scott Cawthon said that there was going to be new content coming out around Halloween and you have a story that could very well be incomplete. So it may take some time to come out with, either in August or after Halloween. But keep posted for more updates on this, as I’m far too invested in the story to let it fall by the wayside.

Ronin Reads Delayed

There was some hospital drama that needed to be dealt with post-haste today, so the reviews may be delayed by a day or two. Sorry for the inconvinience. I can’t go into a lot of details, but just know that no one is hurt.
