Classic Snippets of 9-10-15

Man, do I love me some Dustin Hoffman. Sure, he was in Little Fockers, but I don’t hold that against him. Actors gotta eat, after all. Regardless, he has enough goodwill left over from great movies like this one to keep him in good graces for a long time. Great movies like this one.

Also, what do you think of the new label? “Reel Snippet Classic” was a bit of a mouth full, so I decided to give Classic Snippets a try.

Reel Snippet Classics of 9-3-15

Welcome to part two of the Road to Genisys, where I look at all of the Terminator movies before eventually reviewing Terminator: Genisys. Today we look at the second and last of James Cameron’s contributions to the franchise in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Pull up a seat and read on.

We’ve got an interesting dichotomy of movies. One had quite a bit of depth that I could read into and the other was just a fun way to spend an afternoon. Which is which? Read on and find out.

Reel Snippet Classics of 8-27-15

I know a lot of you might be looking at the title of the movie below and saying, “Really? Really?? That movie came out last year. Can that really be called a classic?” Well, my young fisherman, apart from the fact that Reel Snippet Classics are just my blanket term for anything I review that’s not in theaters, any movie that has a DVD life can be a classic of some kind. A classic masterpiece, a cult classic, a classic disaster, you get the idea. Now that that’s settled, let’s take a look at the horrors of cyberbullying.

Reel Snippets of 8-23-15

Wow, last week was special. I was actually planning to get more done in the latter half and see more movies on the weekend, but the plane from New York got hit with a five hour delay because of bad weather in Dallas, causing us to miss the connecting flight and stay in Dallas overnight. Add some sleep deprivation on top of that and I was basically down and out until Monday. The future will be full of movies but for now, let’s take a look at the adaptation of the 60s spy show that wasn’t Mission: Impossible.

Reel Snippet Classics of 8-13-15

As I mentioned yesterday, I’d like to split up the things I review in theaters from the movies I see for the first time on video. Well, starting today and the coming Thursdays are the Reel Snippet Classics. And what better way to start than with the master of satire himself, Mel Brooks?

Midweek Update of 8-12-15

As you may have noticed, my Reel Snippets aren’t restricted to things just released in theaters. Whenever I see a movie for the first time, old or new, I write a Snippet of it. However, for the purpose of clarity and providing more content, I am going to start separating the two into different posts. Stuff in theaters will continue to get the Monday treatment, but the older movies, the Reel Snippet Classics, if you will, will come out every Thursday. As such, Road to Genisys will now be coming out on the first Thursday of every month as opposed to Mondays. Time will tell if this new change goes over well, but I’ve got a good feeling about it.

Reel Snippets of 8-10-15

This weekend was a doozy, as the movies I saw went through an upward slope of quality. It wasn’t easy and even drained me a considerable amount, but it ended on a good note and I’m sharing it with you guys.

Reel Snippets of 7-27-15

The Reel Snippet closing out this month is a bit more introspective than what came before. I like to think of it as a grandfather putting the month to sleep with a quiet story. Rest well, July. August will be one crazy month.

Reel Snippets of 7-20-15

Happy Anniversary to Apollo 11’s successful landing on the moon! Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong redefined the boundaries of what is possible that day and I say keep honoring that success. Alexander the Great was also born today, but history’s not my favorite subject. Today, though, I come bearing new Reel Snippets featuring Amy Winehouse and Marvel’s newest silver screen superhero. Have fun.
