American Ultra is a bizarre a very offbeat film, certainly a lot darker than the trailers made it out to be. It’s clever in its own way, walks an interesting line between taking and not taking itself seriously, and the action is great, culminating in a really creative finale. I have to admit, I was a little worried about the performances of our two leads, but Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart actually fit into their roles quite well. This film isn’t going to change your life, but it’s a fun way to spend your matinee.
